Advanced Integrated Sensor Consulting! |
Sensors are becoming an integral part of many active tag RFID technologies. Paired with 802.11”X” wireless technologies, they form what is called a Real Time Locating System - RTLS. RTLS systems enable users to track and locate high value, mobile assets within a couple of feet of where the asset is actually located in near real time.
As part of an overall Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), RFID, Sensors, and Wireless (RSW) technologies allow for cooperative monitoring of physical and/or environmental conditions by aggregating different types of sensors and RFID into ONE large visible wireless network. This WSN could be across town, in a huge marine port terminal, a group of factories and warehouses, a college campus or the battlefield. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are now used in many civilian application areas, including environment and habitat monitoring, healthcare applications, home automation, and traffic control. Let our experienced RFID consulting team of RSW Associates™ provide the necessary knowledge and skills to best leverage these new technologies within your working environment and business. |

Sensors 101 |
Sensors come in many types and form factors and perform a wide variety of functions. Found in our homes, offices and factories, they may be combined to perform a series of functions. A thermostat is a sensor. Many street lights are activated by a light sensor to turn the light on and off. Our automobiles are dependent on multiple sensors in order to deliver their best performance and in many modern public bathrooms at airports and hotels, sensors on the wash basins turn the water on and off as your hands activate a light sensor.

| Sensors are well suited to many industrial applications such as: |
Temperature readings
Pressure settings
Shock
Vibration
Chemical
Biological
Electromagnetic |
Motion
Acoustic
Mechanical
Heat and Cold
Optical
Radiation |
Most people are not aware of the innumerable applications for which sensors are used, but they are common in equipment and appliances that are used on an everyday basis . Numerous sensors are found in our automobiles, office equipment, electronic devices, digital cameras, medical devices and manufacturing machines. They perform important functions in the aerospace, medical, military and maritime industries, as well as just about any industry that uses robotics. Port security, airport security and home security are examples of other applications for sensor technologies . |
